Park Hotel on Krestovsky island
Several legends tell the story of how Krestovsky Island was named. According to one of them, in the middle of the 17th century — long before the foundation of Saint Petersburg — a chapel with a big cross was discovered on this island, but no one knew when and why it was built there. Other sources suggest that the name came from a lake that had the shape of a cross, either the shape of the lake was natural, or a cross-shaped man made pond was dug during the times of Peter the Great. Yet another story tells that that when the mansion of Natalya Alekseevna was being built, a huge cross was dug out. Perhaps itwas one of the remains of that mysterious chapel...
